Travel Day

Well, today was a long day.  We got up early and beat the rush out of Paris.  Driving was a cinch.  The roads were well marked and the traffic was pretty light.

We got on the A10 and cruised along at 145km an hour just to keep up with traffic.  The french countryside was amazing.  Little farms, villages and medieval churches/castles.  There were fields and fields of sunflowers bordering the road:

Our vehicle is great.  The Peugeot Partner.  It is very spacious inside and has fold down trays for the kids.  They have been engrossed in movies/games on the iPads.

The A10 was an amazing highway.  Well maintained with many rest areas that all had very clean washrooms.  You paid for the service; however, the tolls on the way to Bordeaux added up to about 50.00E.

Bordeaux is a beautiful city and we stayed in its armpit.  Cristin booked a cheap hotel that was 30.00 E.  Amazing deal, but it was in the industrial district and looked like a storage unit.  You would input your reservation number at the front door and would be assigned a room and code.  You would then go to your room and enter the code, which opened the door.  All without the cost of hotel personnel.  This was the room:

I tried to get a complete view, but I had to stand in the hall to get this picture.  It was cleanish and worked for the night.  I booked at 4 star suite at the Carlton Hotel in Bilboa for tonight [140.00 E].

  1. That should be "It was cleanish". I cannot make the correction right now, I will attend to it later.
