Girona, Spain

We are finally in Girona.  It was a 6 hour drive from Bilboa.  Thankfully, that is the last long drive of our trip.

As I said, the hotel in Bilboa was incredible.  The staff were really friendly, the food was meh, except for the breakfast...we always seem to do well at breakfast.  Here are a few pictures of the hotel:

And of our room:

The drive through Spain was really incredible.  We went from the mountains to the desert.  From wheat fields to vineyards.  It was interesting to see the old stone houses and the modern farm equipment.  What was really amazing was the churches perched on top of mountains.  It was difficult to take pictures while driving, but here are a few:

When we drove through Barcelona the traffic was insane.  Semi-trailers, motorbikes and cars zipping in an out of lanes.  Cristin was really stressed out.  We made it through and into Girona, where we are staying for a week.  Girona has a medieval section that is walled and our apartment is a converted monastery.  The owners live on the floor above us and actually came to find us, as we got lost on our way to the apartment.  The medieval section has very narrow one way streets and if you miss a turn, you have to circle around the whole city and try again.  I plan on doing some exploring in the morning on a run.  The place reminds me of Assassins Creed, which is a reference my gamer friends would get.

Here are a few pictures of our apartment:

Sorry, they are fairly dark.  The apartment is really cool on a hot day.  Here is the exterior balcony with grapes!!

We are off to the beach tomorrow.  Miss you all!!
